More pictures of LODGE MIDGARD and LODGE GIMLE.

The FENSALIR LODGES are three very well looked after and tasteful historic buildings, situated beside each other in the hills of the picturesque village of Kvívík on the main island Streymoy. They are the ideal starting point for hiking tours into the spectacular scenery of the breathtaking nature, boating and bird watching trips to the majestic cliffs or deep-sea fishing at its finest. They also can be used as a base for anglers with prime facilities, which are entirely tailored to the needs of this clientele.

The Faroe Islands are a so far by mass tourism not yet discovered paradise for SPORTANGLERS. Just a stone's throw away from the mainland there is finest deep-sea fishing for cod, halibut and shark. Spectacular flyfishing in breathtaking nature and hardly frequented waters for sea trout and brown trout. Good additional opportunities for salmon fishing. On the Faroe Islands you can find all of this within close proximity and as an angler you are a guest, who is very welcome.

The village of Kvívík - where the lodges are - was one of the first settlements of the Vikings due to its sheltered and beautiful location. Even today the traces of their houses can be visited. And not least therefor Kvívík is approached as one of the most wonderful spots on the Faroe Islands regularly by tour groups. Kvívík is located halfway between the airport and the capital of Torshavn. Travel time is just about 20 minutes.
Anglers will be pleased to hear, that the legendary Leynarvatn with its opportunities for salmon fishing and the beach of Leynar with one of the best waters for sea trout is only 3 km away. We can even offer our own smokehouse and in good weather changes for a barbecue.

Lodge Midgard
we are proud to be able to offer this magnificent building. It is a jewel of the Faroese culture and is under "protection of historic monuments". Built in 1835, it has kept its historical character until today in perfectly good condition. It is like the other two lodges located in an area of Kvívík, where the first traditional Faroese houses arose after the settlement by the Vikings. Sheltered from strong winds, sunny all day and with an open view over the village, the waterfall and the sea. Of course covered with a grass roof and attached by stone huts in which fish and lamb was dried.
The Midgard Lodge sleeps ideally up to five guests. In addition to the 5 persons, two nicely integrated children beds can be used, too.

Lodge Gimle
is the smaller of the three accommodation units and offers through its open loft the most comfort for a couple or a single person. Enjoy the overwhelming visual impressions of the Faroese nature from your accommodation Gimle. Because Gimle is in Norse mythology the most beautiful place on earth. Our lodge Gimle is furnished in the best of taste in the "French Nordic" style. Jeanne d'Arc Living of Denmark is probably the most sought after company in the aesthetics of this interior design and inspired us a lot. Bright furniture, antique unique pieces, flea market finds, and all combined to create a warm and cozy comfort. Enjoy a romantic evening with candlelight, classical music, a glass of red wine and have a warm bath in a bathtub in the late victorian style and let the magnificent impressions of the day pass again in front of your eyes ....

Lodge Nerthus
was built beginning of the 20th century and was the "telephone house" of Kvívík. In older times not every household had an own landline, and you had to go to the telephone house and to wait in the kitchen with coffee & cake for your "overseas" connection. Also Lodge Nerthus has been renovated with fine antiquities, representing itself today to the residents in the expression of a historic country home.
It is mostly occupied in own usage.

Flyfishing

The opportunities for sport fishing on the Faroe Islands are almost limitless. Although you do not expect it to be so on such a small archipelago. But if one keeps in mind that the Faroe Islands consist of 18 islands and on these are to be found many freshwater lakes, one can further rightly assume, that there is a large variety. The Faroe Islands offer excellent opportunities to fish from a boat at sea in close proximity to the mainland. The richness of saltwater fish around the Faroe Islands is legendary. Very good opportunities for coast fishing in many places, especially with fish fabrics close by, are self-evident. Natural habitat of wild brown trout and sea trout on all coasts, make the hearts of anglers beat. Wild Atlantic salmon up to 14kg and sea trout up to 14 pounds have been caught recently. The possibilities are so diverse that they can not be described on this website. Publications about fishing on the Faroe Islands are rarely to be found in the media. This is not because the sport fishing on the Faroe Islands is not worthwhile. But rather that the Faroese do not commercialize their wonderful country. But every angler should always keep a conscious focus on sustainable and responsible behavior in the interaction between mankind and wild life (in this case the fish species) and respect in particular the generosity of Faroese landowners when fishing in their waters.

Host

A PLACE CHANGES, WHEN IT IS CALLED „HOME“.

The love for fishing has taken me many years ago to the Faroe Islands, and the love for the country made me stay.
That's why my house is open to all, who want to go the same way.
What started as a holiday home, today has become a destination where anglers can find a very tailored home to their sport and meet people who share the same passion.
As a "Landlady", but also as an author, journalist and fly fisher, who knows the country and all of its waters, I bid you "Vælkomin!"
